Stephen Fry gets what good design is all about – ease of use, need, promise, and differentiation in the marketplace. There were mp3 players before the iPod. There were smartphones before the iPhone. There were tablet pc’s before the iPad. But an overwhelming number of people buy Apple products. They buy them because Apple delivers on a promise.
That promise is the ease of use and performance of Apple’s products. The integration of Apple’s software and hardware have made them unstoppable dispite the deep pocket so called competitors in the marketplace. The launch of iPhone 4 and the newly renamed iOS platform on which the iPhone and iPad currently run propels Apple ahead of it’s competion again.
The iPhone is more than features or hardware specs. They have no head to head competitor.
