Microsoft’s secret tablet, really?
Gizmodo created a post today that pro ports video of a new Microsoft tablet device.
Do we see Microsoft having to compete and maybe even innovate?
If we are to believe the video and images that Gizmodo has posted this is a hinged tablet that uses a stylist and touchscreen combined.
It is intriguing.
Why make a hinged device? Because it allows you to make a more compact device. It also creates two information spaces. A menu or selection side — a finder of sorts and an active side where the interaction with the application takes place. It could work but, the hinge has been the death of many a laptop. It doesn’t thrill me.
Consumer hokey.
I also see the journal concept with the same distaste as Time Machine’s sci-fi graphics. Is the tablet a consumer device? Is it really just a bigger smarter iPhone?
A stylus.
A stylus is an interesting addition. However we can’t write as fast as we can type. Will the handwriting recognition be good?
I had an early Palm and before that the much more interesting Newton. Can this new pad or Apple’s really change computing as much as the original PDA? Apple created a new platform with the iPhone. Can they extend it’s power in a new tablet. I can’t wait to see what Apple has to offer.
Who will make the next dominant device?
